IX Company. |
This mark was created for Novacomp, a company that develops new fibers from ordinary materials through the science of nanotechnology. These revolutionary fibers are used in everything from medical procedures to submarines. IX comes from the creation myth in Mayan culture and is one of four brothers who hold up the sky in each of the four directions; each is associated with a different color. IX holds up the West and his color is black--the color of carbon, the most common material used in the making of extreme textiles. IX also refers to "9", the "nano" in nanotechnology.
The "X" represents the three basic techniques used to create textiles-- braiding, knitting and embroidery while the dot represents both the "i" in the name and the transformation that occurs when a fabric is pulled apart and a composite is formed. The color change represents the transformation from "ordinary" to "extraordinary." The three colors represent the three fields the company works in.
